He started off working as a CPA for the Big Four accounting firms managing audit teams serving Fortune 100 clients. Joel then moved into intelligence, joining the CIA, where he spent over a decade working on sensitive national security issues, where he eventually focused on cyber counter-intelligence with an emphasis on threats emerging from Southeast Asia.
Joel has developed a deep understanding of the global security landscape and how the dark web economy facilitates the development and spread of cyber intrusion.
Prior to working with Cuesta, Joel was the lead security analyst and consultant for work with private equity portfolio companies at Liberty Advisor Group. Joel provided support to more than 100 technology diligences during this time and led the company’s practice regarding sophisticated cybersecurity assessments and implementations.
