Challenges

20-year old ERP was weighed down by customizations, lack of best practice workflows, and unable to take advantage of capabilities of more modern versions.
ERP was approaching end of support, increasing the likelihood of mounting technical debt and escalating risk which would strain the organization’s lean IT team.
Organization was concerned about effort required from both IT and operations to pursue platform upgrade.
The value of an ERP upgrade had yet to be fully explored, though the company believed there were significant opportunities in adjust processes to be more aligned with system best practices.
Data ecosystem was fragmented and difficult to develop upon.

Solutions

Cuesta conducted a technical analysis of the ERP’s ~2,000 customizations for complexity, criticality, and feasibility in the context of a future upgrade. This achieved unprecedented clarity and visibility into the ERP system for the client.
Cuesta developed a detailed estimation model to produce a rapid and a paced blueprint plan that included IT, operations, and third-party effort and cost estimates.
Business value opportunities identified during discovery were documented and categorized as dependent or not dependent on the ERP and reviewed with the client.
By request of the client, new plans to perform a full technology ecosystem blueprint and development of a foundational data and AI strategy were developed
